Summary of chapter 7 and 8 Until We Meet Again

The last book I read was by Anne Schraff, “Until We Meet Again”, a Bluford Series.

Chapter 7 talks about Darcy and Brian got closer with the fact that he randomly asked her out to the park one day. Even though Darcy liked Brain, she was rather uncomfortable and nervous at times. After a long day at the park, the story also tells that Darcy went o Brian’s house to relax and upon arriving home, she saw an ambulance leaving. Thoughts ran through her head… ‘What could have possibly happened? Mama? Dad? Is it grandma or Jamee?’

Chapter 8 tells how Darcy felt guilt and nervous when her grandma was taken to the hospital. She felt it was all her fault because she hadn’t time to spare and spend with grandma.  Darcy is invited to the Mason’s for dinner but lies to her father about where she is going. Darcy’s actions revealed to her younger sister, Jamee, who wonders what’s been going on with Darcy; she has never acted that way before. Maybe she was catching feelings for Brian and began to lie about it? Or maybe not? Brian reveals his secret crush for Darcy and the dinner turns intimately to sex! Darcy found herself in a situation she has never been in before and this lead to awful things.

My reaction to this story is that Darcy should have never went any further with Brian. She should have kept it at hello and that’s it. Now things are going to get worse because what? He tried to have sex with her and she didn’t like it? Or was he hurting her physically by gripping onto her? We’ll find out.

I believe the author’s intent is to entertain the readers because these stories keep getting better and sweeter! They are great reads!

The organizational pattern is Compare and Contrast and Cause and Effect.

Until We Meet Again Summary-Chapter 5 and 6

The last book I read was "Until We Meet Again", by Anne Schraff.

First of all, let me start off by saying these Bluford Series books give me life and I can't stop reading them.

In chapter five, Hakeem tells Darcy he needs to talk to her. Darcy thought after all that happened maybe he finally has come to his senses and everything he has to say will be fine but it turns out rather tragic for her. They were breaking up! He explains to her that he cannot handle all that he is going through and he needs time alone. Darcy felt like sinking into the earth. Was Hakeem being fair to her? Darcy runs into Brian, who had given her the rose… Maybe Darcy was falling for Brian…

Chapter six talks about Darcy’s non-stop contact with Brian... Was he stalking her or was it just a coincidence? Darcy and Brian hang out and their relationship seems to be getting tighter. It was time for Hakeem to move to Detroit and Darcy decided to go over his house but the guilt she felt, she had to leave. Darcy felt that she misjudged Hakeem and his family because she never really knew they had been going through.

Personal Reflection: These two chapters really had me going! At first when Hakeem decided to talk to Darcy I thought he was going to apologize for his actions and explain all that has been happening and I got really excited to hear the outcome but just like Darcy, I was wrong. I kind of Darcy’s mixed emotions. Can you imagine waiting to hear from someone you care about and the news they deliver just hurts?  Again, Darcy still has to understand Hakeem’s situation and maybe he did it for the right reason but she better be careful of Brian. These books are amazing!

The organizational patterns I discovered are Cause and Effect and Compare and Contrast.

I believe the author's intent is to entertain the readers and give them a sense of what is about to happen.

Until We Meet Again Summary

The last book I read was a Bluford Series, “Until We Meet Again”, by Anne Schraff.

Chapter three talks about how Darcy finally decided to call Hakeem after so many days of not hearing from him. She found out he’s not him usual self and is stressing about. Her father gives her some advice. Darcy saw Hakeem at school the following day and they talked but the outcome was…not so good. For the first Darcy had seen that side of Hakeem. He was rather unemotional and she felt she had been cheated for all the circumstances. Darcy finds comfort in her best friend, Tarah. Brisana, one of Darcy’s friends is starting a rumor about Darcy skipping from Hakeem to Brian Mason, but unfortunately she doesn’t know Darcy was babysitting for Brian’s sister. Darcy finds it strange that Brian Mason gave her a rose. Could this mean he likes her or he’s just trying to be nice?

Chapter four talks about how Darcy Lisselle’s reaction when she saw the rose from her brother, Brian. Darcy wondered why she was so perky but she didn’t pay much attention to her.  Darcy is worried about her grandma’s health and her dad announces her mother’s promotion at work. Darcy talks to Hakeem again but it’s the same thing over again. She felt depressed. Darcy wondered why Liselle had been so interested in her personal life.

Personal Reaction: The Bluford series are good books. They grab my attention and the suspense created is great I can feel my blood pounding. However, I think Darcy shouldn’t stress herself over Hakeem..I mean he’s her boyfriend and all and he’s going through a lot but she should give him some space. Not act like she doesn’t care but let him come around. Also, she better be careful of Brian...that rose means something.. I can’t wait to read more books from Bluford…They’re so great!

The Bet summary

The passage I last read was “The Bet” by Anton Chekhov.

This passage was about a young lawyer and old banker who argued which was the worse punishment between capital punishment and life imprisonment. The lawyer agreed that life is better and bet the banker two million to stay in confinement for 15 years.

The lawyer stays in a room in the banker’s garden. He had no contact with the outside world except through a small window. He was allowed to smoke tobacco, drink and write. He read novels, philosophy, languages and religious readings.

To find out if he still had skills, the lawyer asked the banker to fire two shots in the garden if his effort was good enough.

The fifteen years came and the banker realized he would lose all his assets if he pays the lawyer two million. The banker went off to the lawyer having the intention to kill him when he realizes that the lawyer gave up on everything. Life is just life.

Personal Reflection: The themes of this passage “Wisdom and Knowledge” because the lawyer learned many things during his confinement and “Life” because the lawyer realized life is better than dying.

Personally I believe life is better to live than dying, but just staying behind bars to prove a point for fifteen years is not my thing. The lawyer sacrificed his time and life to show the banker that life is to live and capital punishment is inhumane.

The patterns of organization are Cause and Effect and Chronological.

Until We Meet Again Summary

The book I last read was a Bluford Series entitled, "Until We Meet Again", by Anne Schraff.

Chapter one talks about the Wills family. Darcy's father returned home after leaving with another woman for so many years. With their father's return, things were getting better for the Wills family and they would move to a new home, much closer to Bluford High, Darcy's school. Hakeem, Darcy's boyfriend, father had cancer and the shock of Hakeem and his family moving to Detroit worry Darcy. Darcy got a job as a baby sitter.

Chapter two talks about Darcy's new job as a babysitter and the scare of Hakeem moving to Detroit. Darcy met Brian Mason, a very mysterious individual whom Darcy must be careful of.  Darcy hoped Hakeem's move to Detroit would be canceled even thought she hadn't heard anything from him since they last spoke. Darcy was unable to keep focus on her family's new beginning. She kept worrying about what might be ending.

My personal reaction to chapters one and two is that I know how Darcy feels about Hakeem's situation and she doesn't want him to leave but I think she needs to be a little more considerate. His dad has cancer and moving to Detroit to seek medical help is the only way he can get help. Sometimes the one who is always helping us, is the one who in return needs our help. Also, Darcy needs to keep an eye out for Brian Mason.

The note-taking style I would use is Double-Entry Journal because it allows me to copy an entire portion of my reading into one column and then, in the next column I can write my connections, reactions or thoughts. It is an easy way to take notes because I can remember what I read and I can also remember the thought I had about it.

What Kind of Reader Are You? quiz

In Lesson 3, the "What Kind of Reader Are You?" quiz results said my favorite genre is Fiction. Why Fiction? Because I like to escape when I read, and how I enjoy something other than my normal life. Short and interesting stories seem to be my type of thing. Also, Comedy is my second favorite genre. I am a fun person who loves to laugh  and whatever I read makes me happy. All this information is precised.

The last thing I read was a Bluford Series, entitled Until We Meet Again by Anne Schraff. I really enjoyed this book and I think I relate. This is my third book and I just cant stop reading them because they are just too interesting. The characters are vivid and the book feels so realistic. Its a really good book and I cant wait to start another one.
